Manu Chao is a multilingual French musician (of Spanish origin) who currently works out of Barcelona. He began his career as part of the band Mano Negra, which enjoyed much international success. The band later became Radio Bemba Sound System and evolved to have a more organic “street” sound. Though still backed by a wide range of talents, Manu Chao’s work with Radio Bemba catapulted him to solo stardom. Despite international acclaim, Manu Chao has yet to really get a hold on English-speaking audiences and rarely performs in countries like the U.S.
