Have you heard? Cineplexx is back! The Argentine-born, London-based artist, Sebastian Litmanovich, is releasing his ninth album (!), Florianopolis, come April through his own Nuevahola Records. The first taste of his new material is the two-track “Te Quiero” single, which immediately lets us know that there’s been a transition from the indie pop sounds of his previous release, Perfume (Nuevahola Records, 2012), to a more playful, danceable style.

Lyrically, “Te Quiero” seems to be a little story about obsession, told in the cutest, most charming way. Musically, it’s a Latin-flavored pop track with a bit of disco, a bit of funk, and a lot of fun. In the non-album track “Sol,” Litmanovich sounds like he has lived in cold-and-cloudy England long enough to feel nostalgic about the tropical sun. Because of its theme and its bossa nova influence, it evokes a similar feeling to the one presented by Los Amigos Invisibles on their “Playa Azul” song and music video.

Cineplexx’s Florianopolis is out digitally on April 7th. Listen to the “Te Quiero” below.
