A couple of weeks ago, LA-based Malverde & Maleco Collective brought to light a four-track live performance EP Live at Grand Performance, which they recorded at LA’s California Plaza as part of the 25th Annual Grand Performances Summer Concert Series. Though the EP was released as a holiday gift, it’s a worthy one to own, and give yourself, cause the festivities and celebrations don’t have to end cause the 2011 holidays are over.
Like the notorious Jesús Malverde bringing justice to the poor (or infamously known as the narco saint), Malverde rhymes with infectious conscious hip hop lyrics that represent the voiceless population over Maleco Collective‘s igniting ska and skank rhythms, rock aesthetic guitar solos, and killer brass sound creating some heavy dope world fusions. You’ll also hear samples of Damian Marley’s classic “Welcome to Jamrock” in a track properly titled”Bienvenidos al Barrio” (or welcome to the hood). This EP is a stimulating sociopolitical hip hop anthem that’s surely provoking and enticing, so download it for FREE while you can.
