“Partir de cero” (Starting from Scratch) was one of the hardest hitting tracks of 1977, the album that introduced her to a whole new audience worldwide, and also the album that brought her back to her pure hip-hop roots, the ones who knew her from the times of Makiza, like her the best. That’s what “Partir de Cero” represents in her career, a new beginning, a new chapter, but also a return to her first steps behind the mic in the mid-90’s.

Now that her new album La Bala is finally out (available in ) thanks to Nacional Records, it’s a good time to go back and revisit this great track in a new even harder-hitting version done by Detroit’s underground producer Waajeed who met Ana during her first US tour. I don’t know about you, but I’d like to see more collaborations between these two.
