DJ: La Furia Con Lujuria Sonidera
Most mixtapes are the result of the hard work of one lonely guy locked in his bedroom/studio for many hours. This time however, you get three for the price of one. Three DJ’s mixing together, connecting their three laptops to one mixer and selecting one song each. This kind of mixing implies a whole new level of difficulty because the DJ can’t really plan a playlist ahead of time since he doesn’t know where the mix will take them with the next song. As a result, the mix ends up being a lot less cohesive, but at the same time full of surprises and unexpected twists and turns. And a lot of fun for both the DJs and the listeners/dancers.
La Furia Con Lujuria Sonidera started just as a joke one random night by three colleagues in Mexico’s electropical scene: Sonido Rural, Le Cumbianche Disco and Mexico 72. Since then, they’ve been meeting periodically to record a monthly mixtape, the one posted here being the latest one and simply called Junio. Using cumbia as the glue that sticks it all together, the half-hour set takes you places you’d never imagined, including some Michael Jackson, reggaetón, Nirvana, rap en español and more.
