This one is a total exclusive for Remezcla followers. You won’t see it in any other music blog, yet. Novalima‘s first single out of their upcoming album Karimba, to be released on ESL Music (that’s Thievery Corporation‘s label) on September 13th.
Mixing Afro-Peruvian roots with electronic beats, Novalima could be compared to Gotan Project and Bajofondo for what they did with tango: exporting traditional South American music to the “first world” dancefloors, while at the same time making it cool again, back home, for youth’s consumption.
“Festejo” is the opening track of Karimba, their third official album where the combination between the acoustic and the electronic, the rootsy and the modern find a perfect balance. Novalima is currently on tour through the United States, make sure to catch them live in your town, show dates below.
